Had a similar prob with one car of mine, when I pressed the clutch and braked at the same time, the clutch pedal wouldn't come back up to engage the clutch unless I also released the brake.What is wrong with my car? Brake lights...?
My best guess is not a bad earth (the English version of the US %26quot;ground%26quot;) but some wear on the pivot shaft that the clutch and brake pedals probably both pivot on. When you press the clutch maybe it moves everything a little bit and the brake pedal moves slightly away from the brake light switch.
Stick your head in the footwell and see if there's any way to adjust the brake light switch position, but don't adjust it too far, otherwise the lights won't come on when you do brake.
If there's no way to adjust it, then maybe the pivot arrangement needs overhaul. At a very wild guess, 拢100 - 拢300 to overhaul.What is wrong with my car? Brake lights...?
Usually problems like this stem from a bad earth connection. Check that the bulbs are okay and not shorting out on something daft. Then check the earth connections (and possibly the fuses) on the various light clusters and under the bonnet to check that they are not corroded.What is wrong with my car? Brake lights...?
Do you mean the brake lights at the rear of car, or on the dash? If it's the actual brake lights, then it can only be the clutch pedal fouling the stop-light wire, get your head down and check wiring at pedal..(how do you know the brake lights are coming on?)What is wrong with my car? My brake light kept coming on too, it turned out my brake fluid was low, and i needed new brake pads, take to local garage and they can check it out for u.

I had a ford escort with a similar problem. It turned out to be a faulty fuse box and cost 拢180 to put right. Best to get an auto electrician to check it out. Good luck!What is wrong with my car? Brake lights...?
