How do you change the rear brake light bulb on a 2001 mitsubishi montero?

I have a 200 Montero (not Sports). The right brake light is out. There is no easy way to access the light. no opening for me to reach in from the trunk to just turn the light bulb and remove it. there are two face plate screws. I unscrewed both and still unable to remove the face plate.....help anyone?

thanks. How do you change the rear brake light bulb on a 2001 mitsubishi montero?
there are the two faceplate screws, but there are also a couple of snap-in pins on the back of the lens assembly. after removing the screws, CAREFULLY take a flathead screw driver and slide it between the edge of the lens and the car body. then EASILY pry towards the lens. as it moves out, slide the flathead further behind it so as not to put all the pressure on the lens itself. it should pop out. then you replace the bulb, snap it back in, and replace the screws. How do you change the rear brake light bulb on a 2001 mitsubishi montero?

check inside the car look for a removable panel that will be directly behind the brake lights

pop that off then you will have access to change the bulb
